Rio Olympics: Inspired by PV Sindhu, cricketer Ashwin wants her daughter to play badminton

Port of Spain, Aug 20: Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has posted a beautiful video message addressing ace Indian badminton star PV Sindhu who won the silver medal in the women's badminton singles category at Rio Olympics 2016.

Ashwin's video message was posted in BCCI's official Twitter handle. The message was: "I had the pleasure of watching the game. You competed so hard. There was a whisker of a chance, but nevertheless, you got the entire country glued onto their television sets. You have been a great ambassador for the sport in our country and I hope the sport takes off from here and one day my daughter might play Badminton in the Olympics. I am inspired by you."

PV Sindhu scripted history last night (August 19) by winning a silver medal in the women's badminton singles category, first time by any Indian woman.

Ashwin who is currently in Trinidad with Indian team who are touring West Indies for 4 test series. Indians are leading the series 2-0.

Every Indian is proud of PV Sindhu's amazing feat at the Rio Olympic Games. Ashwin in his video message has said that he hopes his daughter Akhira will someday play Badminton at Olympics.
