Glasgow, August 22: India scored their first win of the second day of the World Badminton Championship on Tuesday (August 22) as Sai Praneeth defeated Wein Nan of China 21-17, 21-18.

Earlier, India's mixed doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sumeeth Reddy went down 17-21, 21-18, 5-21 to Chinese duo of Yilyu Wang and Dongping Huang.

However, India might have something to cheer for as top woman player P V Sindhu, Ajay Jayaram and B Sai Praneeth will be up against their respective opponents later in the evening.

Sindhu will face Korea's Hyo Min Kim in the second round after receiving a first round bye.

Spearheading India's challenge at the World Championships, Olympic silver medallist Sindhu said she was in good form and vowed to better the colour of her past two bronze medals.

"I think it has been two months since Australia Open, so I got enough time to practice. Form wise, I am perfectly all right, so I hope I give my best and do well," said Sindhu.

"I am definitely looking for a medal here and hopefully, better one the bronze this time, I also want to change the colour, so will fight for that," added the 22-year-old from Hyderabad.
