Records are meant to be broken. But as we get ready to welcome another edition of ICC World Cup, some of the achievements in this showpiece event in the past, are set to remain unchanged this year.
Retired legends Sachin Tendulkar, Glenn McGrath and Ricky Ponting's feats are most likely to stay for four more years and beyond. (Team India guide)
Tendulkar has the most runs in World Cup history with 2,278 while McGrath has claimed the highest number of wickets with 71. Ponting's achievements of most matches as a player (46) and captain (29) is out of reach for the current lot in this edition. (India's centurions at WC)
Australia's Ponting has been the best skipper in World Cup history, having led his team to 26 victories out of 29 (1 No Result). His only 2 losses came in 2011 edition, against Pakistan and India (quarter-final).
