New Delhi, Aug 1: Former India opener Virender Sehwag hailed young Lokesh Rahul after slammed his third Test century in the second Test match against West Indies here on Sunday (July 31).

The 'Nawab of Najafgarh', who is known for his witty oneliners, took to Twitter to laud Rahul who for completing his Test ton with a 'Six' and called latter a 'hungry batsman'.

"Dabanng giri at its best from @klrahul11. Last month scored ODI 100 with 6,tdy test century with a 6. All 3 test 100's overseas. #BhoonkaBatsman," wrote Sehwag on his Twitter handle.

It came a surprise to many that India opener KL Rahul chose to hit a big shot to move from 96 to 102.

24-year-old guided India into a commanding position at the end of the second day. The Karnataka right-hander went on to register a career-best 158 as India ended the day at 358/5 with a lead of 162.

When on 96, Rahul chose to reach the three-figure milestone with a 6 off spinner Roston Chase. That was the first 6 of his innings. It was reaching the landmark in Virender Sehwag's style.

After the day's play, Rahul was asked as to why he took that route to get to 100 and he said he does not like to be in the 90s for a long time.

"A lot of coaches will say that it (hitting a six) is not the way to do it, but I feel like any big shot you want to play; be it a six or a sweep shot it is more pre-determined than to see after it is released out of the bowler's hand," Rahul told Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) website.

During his playing days, Sehwag was famous for hitting sixes to complete his hundreds, double hundreds and triple hundreds in Test matches. The Delhi dasher was once caught near boundary ropes at 195 against Australia, while attempting to complete his maiden double hundred in Test.
