Ranchi, March 20: A gritty batting performance by Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh helped Australia salvage a draw against India in the third Test at the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) Stadium here on Monday (March 20).

Handscomb (72 not out) and Marsh (53) forged a brilliant 124-run fifth-wicket stand as Australia ended at 204/6 and denied the hosts any chances of gaining a 2-1 lead in the series.

Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers for India as he returned with figures of 4/54. While off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and pacer Ishant Sharma picked a wicket each as India failed to get eight Australian wickets on the final day.

Resuming their second innings from 23/2, Australia lost just 4 more wickets to elude the hosts from a victory and 2-1 lead in the series.
