Adam Voges betters Don Bradman's famous average 99.94

Wellington, Feb 13: The most famous number in the world of cricket - 99.94, has been bettered today (February 13), but is set to be back on top soon.

The batting average of 99.94, highest in Test history, belongs to the great Sir Don Bradman of Australia. The batting legend ended his career with this outstanding number in 52 Tests (29 hundreds).

On Saturday (February 13), another Australian batsman surpassed the great man. The 36-year-old Adam Voges scored 176 not out on the 2nd day of the 1st Test against New Zealand at Basin Reserve in Wellington to take his batting average to 100.33. Voges has 1,204 Test runs in 19 innings as on today.

Voges, who made his Test debut last year, is playing in his 14th Test and has taken his average past the three-figure mark. However, a dismissal tomorrow (February 14) will bring down that number below 100.

Also during today's fine knock, Voges broke Sachin Tendulkar's 12-year-old record. The Australian right-hander now has more than 500 Test runs without being dismissed even once.

"He's got an average higher than Don (Bradman) at the moment so I might just have to call him 'Sir Voges'," said Voges' team-mate Usman Khawaja, who too scored a century (140) today. He and Voges added 168 runs for the 4th wicket.
