Alam unfazed by Pak cricket team's losing streak

London, June 5 (ANI): Putting up a brave face after Pakistan was crushed in both of its practice games by India and South Africa, coach Intikhab Alam has said he hopes the team bounces back during the Twenty20 World Cup.

"We go into the tournament, having lost both the warm-up games. But these were just practice matches and I'm confident that the boys will come good when the real thing starts," said Alam.

Intikhab, 67, is confident that his boys have the capability to go all the way in this June 5-21 spectacle.

"We have enough talent to make things right," he said. "We are slow starters but will do better when the real games get underway," The News quoted him, as saying.

Pakistan will take on hosts England in their opening match of this 162-nation tournament on June 7 and will then meet their other Group B rivals Netherlands at Lord's on June 9.

The Pakistani team was unable to come out with a convincing show against India on Wednesday night and were just outclassed by their traditional foes in all departments of the game.

Intikhab blamed his bowlers for failing to defend 158, which he believed "wasn't a bad score".

"We didn't bowl well today," said Intikhab. "158 wasn't a bad score but in the end it seemed we were 20 to 30 runs short."

Intikhab stressed that Kamran Akmal's run-out at 45-1 was the biggest setback faced by his team. (ANI)
