China to reduce vehicles during Asian Games

Beijing, Oct 25: Ahead of the Asian Games, China on Monday, Oct 25 confirmed that it will restrict the movement of 40 percent of the vehicles to curb pollution, a media report said.

Lin Daoping, an official, said the even odd license plate method, which was tried during the Beijing Olympic Games, will be introduced again between 7 am to 8 pm in the city.

He further added that Guangzhou city, which has about 2.1 million vehicles will add 1,000 more offer free public transport to limit the impact on the daily life of residents.

The Guangzhou city is set to host the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games in Nov 1-29 and Dec 5-21 respectively.
