Bengaluru, August 16: The Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Wednesday (August 16) sought the directive of the Supreme Court for the removal of the current BCCI office-bearers for non-compliance with the suggestions of the Lodha Committee.
The existing top brass of the Indian cricket board includes president CK Khanna, secretary Amitabh Chodhuary and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary. The matters came to a head after the BCCI office bearers ousted CEO Rahul Johri from the special general meeting on July 26 at New Delhi.
The CoA submitted to the Supreme Court that the Board officers deliberately misconstrued the court's order to oust Johri. Apart from Johri, the representatives of Odisha and Punjab cricket associations too were barred from attending the SGM.
According to the apext court order, those who are eligible for such meetings are president, vice president, secretary, joint/assistant secretary and treasurer.
"Johri is not an office bearer but a salaried employee of BCCI. While he attended all previous SGMs, we can't take a chance this time as we have to honour SC order in letter and spirit. All employees were told by acting secretary that they have to leave the room," a state unit representative had said at the time of the meeting.
