Dhawan and Kohli's 'fight' in dressing room caused 'unrest': Report

Melbourne, Dec 23: The "unrest" in the dressing room which India captain MS Dhoni spoke of, during the 2nd Test, has emerged that it was due to a "fight" between Delhi boys Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan.

India lost the second Test to Australia in Brisbane by 4 wickets on the fourth day (December 20). After the match, Dhoni had said how there was "unrest" in the Indian dressing room and also lack of communication.

The skipper was referring to the events after Dhawan was injured during practice before play. Due to this, Kohli had to rush to start the day's play with Cheteshwar Pujara. At the same net session, Kohli too was injured.

Dhawan was the overnight not out batsman on the third day and due to this injury he could not resume his innings on Saturday. The cause for injury, according to the team management was "worn out" pitches at the Gabba.

Now, according to a report in "Hindustan Times" newspaper, it has been revealed that Kohli was furious with Dhawan for opting out to bat on that morning. Kohli reportedly lashed out at his Delhi team-mate.

With Kohli being rushed into bat, he looked out of place and fell for just 1 run (11 balls) to Mitchell Johnson. Dhoni had said Kohli had only 5 to 7 minutes to prepare for his innings.

After his return to the dressing room, Kohli blamed Dhawan for his 1-run dismissal. The left-hander, however, hit back saying he did not "fake" injury and took "pride in playing for the country", the newspaper report quoted sources as saying about what happened in the dressing room.

There was "speculation" that Dhawan had "chickened out" from facing the hosts' pacemen in the morning.

Finally, it took Team Director Ravi Shastri to calm things down, the report added.

Dhawan came out to bat after the fall of sixth wicket and topscored for the team with 81 runs. India were bowled out for 224 in the second innings, setting a small target of 128 for Australia, which they reached losing 6 wickets.

This is not the first time that Kohli is involved in a spat with a India player. During the Indian Premier League (IPL), he, leading, Royal Challengers Bangalore, had an with Gautam Gambhir, who was captain of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Australia lead the four-match series 2-0. The third Test starts in Melbourne on December 26.
