Sachin, Dhoni - Please donate your cash prize

New Delhi, Apr 4: Team India bagged the World Cup beating Sri Lanka by six wickets. India is a Cricket crazy country and the frenzies continue after winning the final. Indian Cricket players have showed their commitment and now people of the nation and the government (both Central and several state governments) are felicitating the heroes of the nations. A series of awards and lauds of money have kissed the players.

Team India has got $3.385 million as winning prize after win the world cup match. The prize money for winner team is $ 3.200,500. And rest $135.500 million is for win 4 league match and 1 tie. Excluding official prize money, BCCI has announced that BCCI will give Rs 1 crore to every players of team India as extra prize.

The Man of the Match - skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been bestowed with Rs 2 crore from Delhi government and Delhi boys - Virendra Sehwag, Gautan Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Ashish Nehra will receive Rs 1 crore each. Jharkhand government announced that it would confer an honorary doctorate degree to Dhoni. Meanwhile, Maharashtra government also declared Rs 1 core each to its two sons- master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan.

Sources also reported that Dhoni's price for each single advertisement is expected to double in the recent future. Currently, the Indian skipper earns $1.5 million per year per endorsement and currently endorses almost 20 brands including Sony, Pepsi, Reebok and Big Bazaar.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa announced his government would honour the victorious cricket players with a residential plot each from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhrayal Nishank promised a residential plot or a house in Mussoorie hill station for Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, who has been a regular visitor there with his family. The CM of the state also announced that a stadium will be built in the state to be named after Dhoni.

Now, it seems that the kings on the field are their way to become the real 'kings'. But what shocks most people is that India, which is showering its cash prizes on the players, still suffers the poverty issue. A recent survey showed that an additional 39 million people fall into poverty annually in India by health-care expenditures only.

When government of Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Chattisgarh and many others, in a seveer irony, about half of India"s poverty is concentrated in the states like Bihar, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. These poorest states also have to contend with the largest and fastest growing populations.

Now, this is the actual time for heroes like Sachin and Dhoni to donate their some cash prizes to the poor. This is the time to educate the poor and players like Sachin and Dhoni can spend their money for the nobel cause. Though the money is not enough to educate the poor of the entire nation, but they could select some small towns of their choice and educate the poor. Only then they will be real heroes.

Please share your opinion and thoughts with OneIndia and join the urge to the players. We at OneIndia welcome your comments.
