New Delhi, April 27: Yuvraj Singh's runs in Indian Premier League 2015 (IPL 8) are getting expensive by the day after the left-hander's yet another failure with the bat for Delhi Daredevils (DD) last night (April 26).
Yuvraj, who was paid a record Rs 16 crore by DD at this year's players auction, has so far not lived up to the expectations of his franchise and the fans.
The left-hander has managed only 124 runs in 7 innings with 1 half century. That is halfway into the tournament for his team. In an IPL season, a team gets to play 14 matches (7 at home, 7 away).

Among DD's top-four batsmen, Yuvraj's contribution is the lowest. Shreyas Iyer leads with 227 runs followed by captain JP Duminy (220) and Mayank Agarwal (150). Yuvraj is the fourth highest for his team.
Now with half of it gone and DD's playoff chances getting tougher by the day, Yuvraj's paycheck this season could be only for 14 contests. DD are currently in 5th spot (as on April 26). The top-four make the play-offs.
Yuvraj fell for just 2 runs at Ferozeshah Kotla against RCB as his Delhi side was rolled over for a dismal 95. In the run chase, RCB cantered home with 10 wickets and 57 balls to spare.
If you calculate the money Yuvraj is getting for each run so far, it is too high. With just 124 runs in 7 matches, each run has cost the franchise close to Rs 6.5 lakhs!
However, we know that this is not only for his batting but as an overall player, which includes fielding, bowling (only 3 overs for 30 so far) and sharing his inputs with the team. But his primary job is batting and based on these skills, he was picked.
Assuming that Yuvraj will play only 14 matches in IPL 2015, he will be paid over Rs 1 crore per game. So far in 7, his wages are Rs 8 crore. And for each run it has costed exactly Rs 6,45,161.
When Yuvraj was asked recently about the pressure of Rs 16 crore, he hit back saying, "Not really. I was sleeping when the auction was going on. And I didn't tell anybody to give me that money. Whatever money would have given to me, I would have played IPL."
DD will be hoping that the 33-year-old Yuvraj does better than the returns of 124 with 1 half century in the remainder of the tournament. Last year, he was paid Rs 14 crore by RCB. Then, he scored 376 runs in 14 matches and also 5 wickets.
