Mumbai, May 20: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni had a forgettable Tuesday night (May 19) at the Wankhede Stadium, first scoring a golden duck and then his team lost. Now, if that was not enough, he has been slapped with a fine by the match referee Ranjan Madugalle of Sri Lanka.

CSK, the two-time champions, were handed a 25-run defeat by Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League 2015 (IPL 8) yesterday. (Dhoni sets world record)
MI batted first and scored 187/6 in 20 overs and later bowled CSK out for 162 in 19 overs. MI reached the final with this victory.
CSK were off to worst start as opener Dwayne Smith was adjuged LBW by umpire Richard Illingworth, off Lasith Malinga. Smith was sent back erroneously by the Englishman for a 4-ball duck.
Replays clearly showed that the ball was missing the leg-stump and probably even a 5th stump.
At the end of the match, skipper Dhoni did not hide his disappointment over this wrong decision. He criticised it as a "horrible decision".
"I think we were slightly soft on our batting. We lost too many wickets in the middle, not to forget Dwayne Smith got a horrible decision by any standards," Dhoni had said in his post-match comments.
For criticising the umpire in public, the match referee has fined Dhoni 10% of his match fee.
"After the Pepsi IPL Qualifier 1 match in Mumbai last evening, MS Dhoni captain of Chennai Super Kings was fined 10% of his match fee by the match referee for inappropriate public comment in relation to an umpire's decision," a statement from IPL said on Wednesday (May 20).
"Mr. Dhoni admitted the level 1 offence (Article 2.1.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials) and accepted the sanction," the statement added.
CSK will get another chance to reach the final when they face either Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) or Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier 2 on May 22 in Ranchi.
