Ganguly gets lifeline, included in squad for first two Tests

By Staff

Mumbai, Oct 1 (UNI) Former captain Sourav Ganguly was today included in the squad for the first two Tests against Australia, thus ending speculation over the future of the Bengal southpaw in the Indian team.

The new selection committee, which met here today under the chairmanship of Krisnamachari Srikkanth, decided to retain Ganguly after a lenghty deliberation of more than two hours.

The selection committee, which became the first ever paid selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, (BCCI) consisting of Surendra Bhave, Raja Venkat, Yashpal Sharma and Narendra Hirwani apart from Srikkanth selected the squad for the first two Tests scheduled to be held at Bangalore and Mohali.
