I made some 'wrong judgements' in Zimbabwe, says Robin Uthappa

Bengaluru, Aug 5: Opening batsman Robin Uthappa feels he made some "wrong judgements" during the One Day Internationals against Zimbabwe and is currently working hard to make a comeback to the national team.

Uthappa, 29, who was part of the Indian team for Zimbabwe tour, failed with the bat in the 3 ODIs but did well in the 2 Twenty20 Internationals that followed.

The right-handed batsman, who is a specialist opener, played in the middle order which according to him was "new". He was also the team's wicketkeeper on the tour of Zimbabwe.

His ODI scores against Zimbabwe were 0, 13 and 31. While the first 2 came while batting at number 5, in the final ODI he was promoted to number 3 but still could not make an impact.

In the T20Is, he hit an unbeaten 39 helping India win by 54 runs and made 42 in a losing cause the next match.

When asked about his personal experience of Zimbabwe tour, he said last night (August 4), "For me, Twenty20s went pretty well. Unfortunately I could not capitalise on the One Dayers. Batting in that position (No. 5) was also new to me. Probably I was too keen to do well and made some wrong judgements at that point in time. But I am working hard and will keep doing that. I will keep giving my best and hopefully I will play for India again."

Uthappa made his ODI debut in 2006 but has so far failed to become a permanent member in the Indian team. In 46 ODIs, he has scored 934 runs with 6 half centuries. He has also featured in 13 T20Is and was part of the Indian team that won the World Twenty20 Championship in South Africa in 2007.

The Karnataka batsman is now gearing up to play for Bijapur Bulls team in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) Twenty20 tournament which starts on September 2.
