'No change in 2011 Cricket World Cup venue'

New Delhi, Feb 18: Haroon Lorgat, the International Cricket Council (ICC) CEO rejected the media reports stating that the venue of 2011 World Cup is changed. In a press conference held on Tuesday, Feb 17 Lorgat said that the decision regarding venue would be taken only after security assessment in 2011 but at present it was too early to decide.

"There's is no truth is the World Cup moving. As far as we are concerned, we are planning for four countries to host it. What we would do with all our events is do the security assessments closer to the time," said Lorgat, who along with Rahul Dravid unveiled the 2011 World Cup trophy.

However media reports states that Lorgat told reporters in New Delhi that after a World Cup organizing committee meeting that the change of venue was one of the consideration if it becomes difficult to play in Pakistan due to security concerns. Last Nov, the ICC asked the organisers to speed up preparations, saying they were ten months behind schedule.

The one-day tournament will be hosted by India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Pakistan did not play a single test last year after teams, including Australia, refused to travel.

This month the ICC took away this year's Champions Trophy from Pakistan after postponing the prestigious one-day event from last Sep over a possible boycott by five of the eight teams. A new venue is yet to be announced.
