ICC Test Rankings: Win or draw in Delhi will take India to No. 2

Bengaluru, Nov 30: Virat Kohli-led India need to win or draw the 4th and final Test against South Africa to climb up to number 2 in the ICC Rankings.

Having already sealed the series with an unassailable 2-0 lead, India will be aiming to continue the winning run at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla from December 3 (Thursday). Even a draw is enough for the hosts to move to 2nd spot in the ICC Test Championship table.

India had started the series at number 5 while South Africa were the top-ranked team in the world. Despite losing the rubber, the Proteas are set to retain the number 1 rank. As of today (November 30), India are at number 4 having gained a place after Pakistan's 2-0 series victory over England earlier this month.

South Africa will end the series with 116 rating points while India will be at 109 if the Delhi Test ends in a draw. However, a win for India will take them to 111 points and South Africa to 114.

A 3-0 or 2-0 series win will push India to number 2. Before the series began, India had 100 rating points while South Africa had 125.

If India lose the Delhi Test, they will end at No. 3 and Australia will be at No. 2. A 2-1 series win for India will give them 107 rating points and South Africa will have 118 while Australia finish at 109 points.
