Bengaluru, March 7: India will enter the ICC World Twenty20 2016 as the number one ranked side in the world. The tournament starts tomorrow (March 8) in Nagpur.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led India won the Asia Cup T20 tournament last night (March 6) in Mirpur, defeating hosts Bangladesh by 8 wickets.
The title triumph in Bangladesh has ensured India will remain the top-ranked team in the world as the sides head into the World T20 event. (Where are Dhoni's critics?)
India won the inaugural edition of the World T20 in South Africa in 2007. The next four tournaments have seen 4 different winners. India have a chance to become the first team to win the trophy twice and create history at home. No host nation has won the World T20.
This year's World T20 will be played from March 8 to April 3 across 7 cities. Kolkata's Eden Gardens will host the final. India open campaign against New Zealand on March 15 in Nagpur. They have received direct entry to Super 10 stage along with 7 others.
