Intl Cricket Committee of PCB meets on Wednesday in Karachi

By Staff

Lahore, Sep 1 (UNI) The Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) International Cricket Committee has called an emergency meeting at Karachi on Wednesday to discuss the board's unilateral decision of arranging a South African tour in place of the postponed Champions Trophy.

The International Cricket Committee, however, has voiced concerns over PCB Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi's negotiation of a quadrangular series with South Africa without its consent as an alternate for this month's eight nation tournament, originally scheduled to be held in Pakistan but has now been postponed until next year due to the security concerns raised by the participating countries.

The PCB is mulling over the South Africa in order to compensate the players as well as to fill the time gap. But Naghmi avoided the Governing Board, which is authorised by the PCB, as well as its cricket committee, which is against the constitution.

Ali Raza, Chairman of the cricket committee has, however, asked two other members of the committee, Ijaz Butt and Munir Hafeez, to meet in Karachi at the committee meeting on Wednesday.

With PCB chairman Nasim Ashraf's resignation from his position last year, the General Body has now become the lone powerful house within the PCB for taking decisions.
