IPL 2017 Auction: Full list of players sold - Ben Stokes sets record

Ben Stokes was the costliest player at the IPL 2017 Auction as he was bought for Rs 14.5 crore by Pune.

Bengaluru, Feb 20: England all-rounder Ben Stokes emerged as the costliest cricketer buy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 Players Auction here today (February 20).

25-year-old Stokes, who bats left-handed and bowls right-arm, triggered a bidding war in the 1st session of the auction. He was finally snapped up by Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) for a whopping Rs 14.5 crore. (Final squads after auction)

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Daredevils (DD) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) too had joined in to bid for Stokes but Pune, who made late entry into the bidding, got the all-rounder. (Tournament schedule)

Stokes became the 2nd costliest player to be bought at auction. The highest was Rs 16 crore for Yuvraj Singh. However, Stokes is the most expensive buy from overseas category, setting a new record.
