Bengaluru, April 15: Former India batsman and television commentator Sanjay Manjrekar today (April 15) clarified his comments on Mumbai Indians' (MI) all-rounder Kieron Pollard.
On April 10, Manjrekar, who was part of the TV commentary panel for MI versus Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, reportedly said Pollard was "brainless" to bat higher up the order. (Pollard blasts Manjrekar)
This comment was not taken lightly by the big West Indian. He took to the micro-blogging website Twitter to slam Manjrekar.
"@sanjaymanjrekar u feel any positive can come out of your mouth bcuz u get pay to talk u can continue with your verbal diarrhea ..(sic)," Pollard wrote.
In another tweet, he said, "Do you know how I get big so.. about BRAINLESS.. words are very powerful .. once it leaves u can't take it back.. sins of parents fall on..."

He concluded, "U finish that sentence .. !! All in all great TEAM effort .. well done team well done Hardik nitesh krunal youngsters doing the business 👏🏼."
Now, after 5 days of that incident, Manjrekar has responded to Pollard on Twitter. Manjrekar said he was "critical" of a player and "never insulting". The former right-hand batsman clarified that he did not use the terms "no brains" or "brainless" for Pollard.
He wrote on his account on Saturday, "Said " Does he have the range? " Using terms like 'no brains' or 'brainless' not my style. I can be critical but never insulting."
He added, "I would also encourage all those reacting to the Pollard issue to hear the footage & not just take my word for it."
Later IPL tweeted the footage of what Manjrekar said about Pollard during the match. Here it is.

Yesterday (April 14), at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Pollard hit a match-winning 70 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
He rescued the team from 7/4 after his Caribbean team-mate Samuel Badree, on RCB debut, had rocked the MI top order with a hat-trick.
