New Delhi, Feb 7: Young Rajasthan pacer Nathu Singh caught entire nation's attention after Mumbai Indians shelled out a staggering Rs 3.2 crores on this uncapped player in the IPL auction, held on Saturday.

The 20-year-old right-arm fast bowler, who caught the eye in Indian domestic circuit, is the fastest bowler in India at the moment, and hence there should not be any surprises for his big buck entry in the IPL.

Even former Indian cricketer and U-19 Team's coach Rahul Dravid too has praised this Rajasthan lad.

Here are a few things you should know about the young pacer:

• His father is labourer at a wire factory in Jaipur.

• He had a dream to play cricket but stuck to only doing it on the streets before his father Bharat Singh decided to put all his little savings for his son.

• His friends backed him after watching his skills with tennis ball, and encouraged him to train with a leather ball.

• Bharat Singh had approach a money lender to pay Rs 10,000 at an academy in Jaipur for his son's entry.

• Later, Nathu was at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai where Glenn McGrath too was impressed with him.

• Nathu made it to Rajasthan's U-19 team in 2013.

• He got a lucky break when Pankaj Singh picked up an injury a day before Rajasthan's Ranji Trophy encounter against Delhi.

• Nathu made the headlines this season in Ranji Trophy when he took 7/87 on first-class debut for Rajasthan against Delhi. One of his wickets was Gautam Gambhir.

• In his six first-class matches, Nathu has taken 12 wickets for Rajasthan.

• He was selected in the Board President's XI team to face the visiting South Africans in Nov 2015.

• In the 2-day game, he bowled at international batsmen for the first time. He had only 1 wicket (Dean Elgar) to show but he made his mark with pace as he repeatedly clocked 140 kmph on the speed gun and even touched 145 kmph.

• The boy from Jaipur has revealed he loved watching Pakistan's paceman Shoaib Akhtar and wants to break his speed (160 kmph) record.

• A successful IPL stint will certainly help him make it to India's national side.
