The Hubballi police arrested a bookie for indulging in IPL betting. Searches were conducted at the residence of Raghavendra Kabadi, a resident of Hubballi after the police received information about rampant cricket betting. Raids were conducted at a residential building in Green Garden of Hubballi where the police found the bookie red-handed and seized all equipements used for betting.
Following a tipoff the police raided Raghavendra's resience where they found a dozen mobile phones, notebook with details of bets received and names of those indulging in betting and a calculator. The bookie is currently in police custody and further investigations are underway in the case.
Hubballi is notorious for its betting mafia and close to 20 bookies were arrested by the police last year during the IPL season. The betting mafia in Hubballi had even shaken up the Karnataka assembly with the opposition accusing police officers of being involved in the racket. The police in Hubbali who raided Raghavendra also seized Rs 17,100 in new currency notes.
