IPL Season 2 kick starts at Cape Town

Cape Town, Apr 18: Call it a breath of fresh air or a distraction, Indian Premier League is here and takes a centre stage after days of political drama on the airwaves. The anticipated event finally began in South Africa on Saturday, Apr 18 with a carnival marking the beginning of the secong season of the tournament.

The league consists of 8 teams, will take place in 8 venues over 37 days. The cricketers will fight for the prize of Rs 15 crore. And reports speculate that atleast Rs 25,000 crore will be spent across the nation in bets.



The Indian fans who have been on their toes for the past week will catch the matches on television at 4 PM and 8 PM, with each match lasting for 3 hours and 15 minutes.

Apart from the cricket heavyweights from all over the world like Andrew Symonds playing for Team Hyderabad and Kevin Pietersen playing for Royal Challengers, the event will be decked with Indian celebrities and socialites like Shahrukh Khan, Vijaya Mallya, Priety Zinta and Shilpa Shetty.
