Bengaluru, Feb 8: All-rounder Irfan Pathan today said he has entered "the most beautiful phase" of his life after marrying Safa Baig last week in Saudi Arabia.
The 31-year-old Irfan began a new innings in life on Thursday (February 4) as he married Safa, a 21-year-old model based in Saudi Arabia.
Last evening (February 7), Irfan shared a selfie with his wife, on Twitter. "Entering probably the most beautiful phase of my life.We both wish to thank everyone for your wishes & #blessings," the Baroda cricketer wrote on his Twitter page on Sunday.
On Saturday (February 6), left-handed Irfan was bought for Rs 1 crore by Rising Pune Supergiants at the Indian Premier League (IPL) Players Auction in Bengaluru.
Irfan, who made his Test debut against Australia in December 2003, has not played international cricket since October 2012. He has played 29 Tests, 120 One Day Internationals and 24 Twenty20 Internationals. He had a good domestic limited overs season and is aiming to make a comeback in the Indian team.
"Every player who plays first-class cricket dreams to play for India; that's why I am in the Ranji Trophy. I still have my dream very much alive to play for India. I just want to keep my mouth shut and keep playing. My aim is to keep performing, keep improving, and keep doing the right thing," Irfan had told "IANS" news agency in an interview recently.
Last month, Irfan, captaining Baroda, had taken the team to the final of Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty20 tournament. They lost to Uttar Pradesh, led by Suresh Raina.
