Bengaluru, August 7: The Kerala High Court lifted the life-time ban imposed on former India fast bowler S Sreesanth, literally paving the way for his return to competitive action.

The 34-year-old was one of the players charged for spot-fixing during the 2013 IPL.

Though charges against him were subsequently dropped by a trial court in New Delhi in July, 2015, Sreesanth's career continued to be in limbo as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to give him an No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play in the Scottish League.

"It's a big relief. Finally, I feel justice has been done. I'm not thinking about anything now. You can't change the past," Sreesanth told myKhel.com

The temperamental fast bowler was in talks Scotland's Glenrothes CC to play for them in the 2017 season. But BCCI had denied NOC to him then.

With the Kerala HC ruling virtually nullifying the BCCI ban, Sreesanth hopes to resurrect his playing career.

"I'm looking forward to playing again. There're opportunities like a chance to play in Scotland.

Hopefully, I can cash in on it. Again I like nothing better than playing cricket. Of late, politics and cinema have entered my life. But nothing is above cricket," he added.

A two-time World Cup winner, Sreesanth also spoke about his desire to play for his home state of Kerala in the domestci season.

"I've spoken to Kerala coach Dav Whatmore. He said a bowler with my skill is welcome to the set up. I'm not against anyone. I'm just looking forward to playing cricket again," Sreesanth said.

Meanwhile, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) welcomed the court decision to nullify the life-ban on Sreesanth.

"The HC has given a verdict in favour of him. We back him to comeback to cricket. It's a welcome decision," said KCA Secretary Jayesh George.

The BCCI, however, was more circumspect in its reaction.

"The HC has just given the verdict. We haven't gone through it yet. So, first we need to do that before taking any steps. BCCI isn't against anyone," a top BCCI official said.

Though BCCI can challlenge the HC verdict, another board official said it may not appeal against it since they have already quite a few pending issues in the court.
