Lokesh Rahul joins elite group, becomes first Indian to hit century on ODI debut

Harare, June 11: In what could be termed as a dream debut, opener KL Rahul became first batsman in India to slam a century on his maiden ODI match.

With two just needed for India to win the 1st ODI against Zimbabwe, the 24-year-old Karnataka batsman smashed a six to reach the incredible milestone. He batted till the end to ensure a convincing victory for India in the short series.

KL Rahul becomes first Indian to hit century on ODI debut


The right-handed-batsman smashed his ton in 115 deliveries including 7 boundaries and six. He has also become only the 11 debutant to do so in 40-year-old history of ODI cricket.

Earlier in his innings, Lokesh Rahul went past Robin Uthappa's 86 which he scored in 2006 against England at Indore.

The right-handed batsman had already debuted for India in Test cricket against Australia on Dec 26, 2014.

Rahul gets ODI cap

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had slammed his first century in his second Test match at Sydney.
