Know your ICC World Cup 2015 venue - WACA ground (Perth)

The Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) ground was officially opened in 1893 and now it will be one of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 venues. WACA in perth will get to host 3 matches, 2 of them involving India.

The first match at WACA will be between India and United Arab Emirates on 28 February. The first ever ODI at the venue also involved India, back in 1980, against New Zealand. The capacity of the stadium for World Cup is 18,000.

The Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) Ground was officially opened in 1893, with the first match played on the turf wickets in February 1894.

The ground has a significant place in the social and cultural history of Perth and has hosted a range of sports and events including athletics, Australian Rules Football, baseball, soccer, rugby league and rugby union. The stadium is home to the state cricket team, the Western Warriors, the state women's side Western Fury and the Big Bash franchise, the Perth Scorchers.

The WACA Museum housed onsite displays the history of cricket and other sports played at this famous ground.
