Modi's fate to be decided in coming BCCI meeting

Mumbai, Jul 2: Suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) president, Lalit Modi's future will be decided in the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) meeting in Mumbai on Saturday, Jul 3.

It is expected that in the meeting the first steps will be taken towards Modi's eventual execution from the BCCI.

A 3/4th majority is needed at its special general meeting (SGM), as per the BCCI's constitution, whenever it's specifically convened, to expel an administrator.

Indications show that Modi will have very few supporters at the meeting following the decision of some of his known backers not to attend it.

A big Modi backer, Inderjit Singh Bindra, former BCCI president will not attend the meeting on behalf of the Punjab Cricket Association.

Modi also cannot expect support from Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) member and Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL franchise owner Vijay Mallya as he will not attend the meeting.

All the members, who will attend the meeting, have already been provided with copies of the three show cause notices issued to Modi and his voluminous replies to those.

"Modi would take the appropriate action at the appropriate time," said Mehmood Abdi, Lalit Modi's legal counsel.
