New Delhi, Feb 20: Kapil Dev, the former Indian skipper said he has been offered poll tickets by various political parties, but he has no political plans at present. Kapil was inducted into the Territorial Army five months ago and is undergoing his training for territorial army in New Delhi. After Mohammad Azharuddin formally joined Congress, rumours spread that Kapil is planning to enter politics.
"I am happy about what I am doing now, who knows about tomorrow. Many political parties have approached me. I have left politics to be dealt by politicians. If I ever get into it later on in life then we will look at it then. At the moment I am happy with whatever I am doing. I have not given it a thought but I wish that only good people should join politics and the country should be benefited," he said.
The World Cup winning captain urged the Indian youth to join Army and serve the nation. The 50-year-old legendary cricketer received his badges of rank from the Indian Army chief on Sep 2008 and is now an honorary Lieutenant Colonel. He said after joining army he feels like 'a complete Indian'.
