Police deploy 2,500 cops for 3rd Indo-Pak test match

By Staff

Bangalore, Dec 7 (UNI) Security has been beefed up in and around M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the venue of the third and final test match between India and Pakistan, beginning tomorrow.

A top police official here said more than 2,500 police personnel, including cops in plain clothes, bomb disposal squads and dog squads, would be pressed into service during the five days.

Besides, closed circuit cameras have been installed in the players' dressing room and other vantage points. Top players, including Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Shoaib Akhtar were among those who were provided additional security.

Buses carrying the players from the hotel to the ground were provided with pilot cars, he said.

Players have already been cautioned against venturing out on their own as providing security would be a problem, he added.
