'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle hails 'great' Cristiano Ronaldo as Portugal lift Euro 2016

New Delhi, July 11: As Portugal shocked hosts France in the European Championship final, fans went berserk and congratulated superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for inspiring and leading his side win its first international title.

Ronaldo was stretchered off in tears in the first half and limped on crying with joy again after his side delivered the final knockout blow in the month-long tournament of upsets.

Football fans from all over the world congratulated the Portuguese team and superstar Cristiano Ronaldo for winning maiden Euro title.

Explosive West Indies batsman, Chris Gayle, took to Twitter to hail Ronaldo and celebrate his favourite team's victory. Gayle said his prediction of Portugal's victory was spot on.

"My prediction from game one was spot on! #Euro2016Final #Portugal #champion2016 @Cristiano the greatest! What u y'all got to say now?!," tweeted Gayle.

'Universe Boss' Gayle also hailed Eder, Portugal's star of the match, who scored the winning goal for his side in the final match.

The 32-year-old Jamaican swashbuckler added, "Yes there's a lord! #Euro2016Final #POR #Portugal #EURO2016 #Eder 💪🏿 #PORFRA."

Eder scored the all important goal in 109th minute to seal his nation's fate. The Portuguese especially Cristiano Ronaldo waited for 12 years for this moment. The last he played Euro final in 2004 they lost 1-0 to Greece.
