Vijay will take time off to heal his shoulder, which forced him to sit out of the Bangalore Test against Australia.

As per reports, Ashwin is suffering from sports hernia and he underwent scans in Mumbai after the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy concluded in Dharamsala.

Ashwin's absence will be badly missed by Rising Pune Supergiants. South Africa spinner Imran Tahir, who was bought after Mitchell Marsh was ruled out, will now be heading spin department along with Australian Adam Zampa.

"Yes I have been ruled out of the IPL, don't want to get into the details at this point. You will get an official word from the Royal Challengers Bangalore," Rahul, who plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), told CricketNext.com.
