Mumbai, April 26. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has recommended batsman Rohit Sharma for the Arjuna Award.
The decision to recommend ODI opener Rohit for the prestigious award was taken at the Indian cricket board's Working Committee meeting in Mumbai on Sunday.
"The Working Committee recommended Mr. Rohit Sharma for the Arjuna award for the year 2015," BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said today in a media release.
Rohit is currently captaining Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League 2015 (IPL 8).
The 27-year-old right-hander has so far played 10 Tests, 135 ODIs and 42 T20Is. He is the only batsman in ODI history to score two double hundreds. He holds the world record for the highest ODI score - 264 (Vs Sri Lanka on November 13, 2014 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens).
