Sri Lanka appoint Chaminda Vaas as bowling coach

Former left-arm pacer to train bowlers during the tour of India, says Sri Lanka Cricket

Colombo, July 21: Sri Lanka Cricket on Friday (July 21) announced that ace paceman Chaminda Vaas has been drafted into the national side to guide the pace attack for the India tour of Sri Lanka.

The series opener takes place in Galle on the 26th- 30th of July. The former left-arm new ball seamer has been at the helm of the national programme working with the feeder squads since August last year.

He joins the team as specialist fast bowling coach ahead of the India tour.

Vaas formed the core fibre of Sri Lankan teams in the mid 90s and 2000s along with Muttiah Muralitharan and turned the island nation a tough touring destination.

He has played 111 Tests taking 355 wickets and 322 one-day internationals accounting for 400 wickets.
