While India will go into the match after losing to New Zealand in the opening match at Nagpur, Pakistan will feel more confident following their 55-run win over Bangladesh at Kolkata. [India have a 10-0 lead over Pak in all World Cups]

Focusing on history---Pakistan have never lost to India in any of the 50-over game the two have played at the Eden so far. [India under pressure, says Pak coach Waqar Younis]

Here are the brief results of those matches:

Salim Malik blows away India with 36-ball-72

Pakistan beat India by 2 wickets in the second game of a six-match series on February 18, 1987. After Kris Srikkanth's 123 powered India to set up a challenging target for the opponents, Salim Malik's 36-ball-72 at No. 7 that took the Pakistanis home from trouble is considered one of the finest innings in cricket. Kapil Dev was the captain of India in this match while Imran Khan led Pakistan.

Eight Indian bowlers fail to stop a young Salman Butt

Pakistan beat India by 6 wickets in the BCCI's Platinum Jubilee match on November 13, 2004. Led by Sourav Ganguly, India put up a formidable score of 292 with Yuvraj Singh scoring 78 off 74 balls. But yet the hosts could not stop Inzamam-ul-Haq's side from reaching the target despite using eight bowlers. Salman Butt hit an unbeaten 108 to be picked as the man of the match.

India's pathetic batting in the post-Tendulkar era

Pakistah beat India by 85 runs in the second match of a three-game series on January 3, 2013. In the first series in the post-Sachin Tendulkar era, India fell apart while chasing a target of 251 and were shot out for 165. Only MS Dhoni stood among the ruins with 54 not out. For Misbah-ul-Haq's Pakistan, Nasir Jamshed hit 106 to be adjudged the man of the match.

In Tests, however, India and Pakistan share the laurels with each winning one match at the Eden Gardens.

The two sides have never met in a T20 game at this venue earlier.
