Indian team management sent a new look young brigade in order to provide them international exposure and an experience of playing at overseas conditions.

Takeways from India's tour of Zimbabwe: KL Rahul, Bumrah most impressive youngsters

India's tour of Zimbabwe was also aimed at finding young talents and testing the bench strength, who could play for mainstream India squad in future.

Here are a few takeaways from Team India's successful tour of the African nation:

A future star in KL Rahul:

India seems to have discovered yet another star batsman in Lokesh Rahul. The young Karnataka opener was the highest run getter for the Indian squad both. Rahul scored 100, 33, 63, 0 47 and 22, thereby emerging as the best batsman for the Indian contingent in Zimbabwe.

With his consistent performances in the limited overs series, Rahul, who is a regular member of India's Test squad, has made right noises to secure a Blue jersey for himself. Thus, there won't be any surprises if this 23-year-old opener gets a call for future limited-overs tournaments.

Jasprit Bumrah: Lives up to the reputation, again

India's rookie pacer Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as India's most bankable limited-overs bowler in the year 2016. With 24 T20I wickets, this year, Bumrah has already become most successful Indian bowler in a calender year, leaving R Ashwin behind.

He was the highest wicket taker for India (14 wickets in six matches) on Zimbabwe tour and delivered to perfection whatever and whenever his captain demanded.

Bumrah, who was India's pace spearhead on this tour, bowled with pace and delivered yorkers at will. It will be interesting to see whether his consistent performance in limited overs earns him a Test jersey.

Barinder Sran impresses with swing:

This left-arm pacer bagged Man of the series trophy for his bowling performance in the T20 series. Sran played just two games in the T20 series and got a total of 6 wickets.

The Sirsa-based bowler impressed everyone with his swing throughout this tour, especially with his performance in his debut T20I match. He could become a regular limited-overs batsman if he improves his consistency in the death overs.

Yuzvendra Chahal impressive debut in limited overs:

Debutant Chahal didn't disappoint the selectors with his preformance on the Zimbabwe tour. He impressed skipper MS Dhoni, who could be heard praising the young leg-spinner from behind the stumps, with his flight and turn. Chahal showed that he is not afraid of being hit and bowled flighted deliveries to the lure batsmen. But the leggie still needs to work on honing his skills and also improves his fielding.

Axar Patel, has all the ingredients of an all-rounder:

Axar Patel was extremely economical in all the six matches he bowled and was also the most difficult for the Zimbabwe batsmen to play. The left-arm spinner also played some big hits with his bat whenever he came out to bat. He could pose as a potential threat to Ravindra Jadeja and emerge as an all-rounder for the side.
