Top 5 bowlers in ICC Test Rankings: Ravindra Jadeja pips R Ashwin to grab top spot

New Delhi, March 21: Ravindra Jadeja pipped his spin twin Ravichandran Ashwin to grab the pole position in the latest ranking for ICC Test bowlers.

'Rockstar' Ravindra Jadeja takes sole top spot

Left-arm spinner Jadeja whizzed past Ashwin after snaring nine wickets in the drawn third Test against Australia, which put the four-match series evenly poised at 1-1.

Jadeja, who grabbed five for 124 and four for 52 in Ranchi, has gained seven points after starting joint-first with Ashwin at 892 points.

The left-arm spinner has become only the third Indian player after Ashwin and Bishan Singh Bedi to top the bowling charts on his own, said an ICC release.

Jadeja, who was often termed as the second fiddle to Ashwin, has also closed in on a major landmark as his tally of 899 rating points puts him on the brink of becoming only the second India bowler after Ashwin to touch the 900-point mark.

Ashwin, who had a highest rating of 904 points, has slipped 37 points behind Jadeja to 862 points after finishing with two wickets in Ranchi.

1. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja, who grabbed five for 124 and four for 52 in Ranchi Test, has gained seven points after starting joint-first with R Ashwin at 892 points. He now has 899 points.

2. Ravichandran Ashwin

R Ashwin, who had a highest rating of 904 points, has slipped 37 points behind Jadeja to 862 points after finishing with two wickets in Ranchi.

3. Rangana Herath

With 854 points, the veteran Sri Lanka spinner is sitting comfortably at the third spot in the ICC Test rankings.

4. Josh Hazlewood

With 842 rating points, Josh Hazlewood is placed at the fourth spot in the ICC Test rankings.

5. James Anderson

With 810 rating points, the veteran England speedster is still sitting comfortably at 5th position in the ICC Test rankings.
