Bengaluru, Dec 16: Even after having won the coveted gold medal in the World Youth Boxing Championship in Russia recently, Sachin Siwach has not yet received a message from the boxing fraternity!
The 17-year old boxer from Bhiwani in Haryana has returned home two weeks ago. His father Krisan Siwach while talking over phone from Bhiwani on Wednesday (December 14) expressed grief, saying, "Only Union sports minister Vijay Goel congratulated him after Sachin returned to New Delhi from Russia with the gold medal. But apart from the sports minister none in the boxing fraternity has even said him well done till today."
His father lamented, "It became difficult for me to bear his expenses to continue training as it costs approximately Rs 5,000 every month. Sachin badly needs a job. Even it would help him to buy a set of boxing gloves and other gears if somebody comes forward and makes some one-time financial help."
Sachin's predicament has finally touched the icon in Indian boxing, Vijender Singh. Vijender when heard about Sachin Siwach's struggle to survive revealed on Wednesday that he wants to help the young talented boxer.
Vijender said, "Let my forthcoming bout on 17th December finish. Then I will try to talk to Sachin's father and try to bring out some solution for him. Although Sachin used to live in Mitathal village which is only six kilometers from our Bhiwani, I have not seen him. But I have heard of him and his achievement in the World youth boxing championship has been phenomenal."
Sachin's father when informed about Vijender's intention, was simply moved and said, “I will be thankful if renowned boxer like him comes forward and brings out some financial solution for my son."
