Last night (March 23), India snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, taking 3 wickets off the final three balls of the contest at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. (WT20 schedule)
Chasing 147 to win, Bangladesh were almost home but the script changed in the final 3 deliveries. When 11 were required off the last over bowled by Hardik Pandya, Bangladesh lost 3 wickets and went down by 1 run. (Points Table)
Dhoni effected Indian cricket's most famous run out in Twenty20 Internationals when he caught Mustafizur Rahman short of the crease off the final ball when 2 were needed for a win. (Raina to Rahim: 'Don't celebrate before you win')
Later, in the post-match press conference, Dhoni was asked about the net run rate calculations and how happy was he with the narrow win. The wicketkeeper-batsman lost his cool and shot back at the journalist stating that "he was not happy that India won".
"1 minute. I know that you are not happy India won. Just listen to me. By the way of your voice, tone and question, it appears like you are not happy that India won. When it comes to cricket, there is no script. It is not about the script," the 34-year-old Dhoni snapped at the reporter.
He continued, "You have to analyse that after losing the toss on that wicket and batting, there was a reason why we could not score more runs. If you are sitting outside and not analysing these things you should not ask this question."
Before the match, there was talk about India going for big win to increase their net run rate after it had taken a beating following the 47-run debacle against New Zealand in opening game.
India will face Australia in their final league game on Sunday (March 27). It is also a must-win match to qualify for the semi-finals. So far, India have won 2 and lost 1 in Group 2 of the Super 10 stage.
