Andaman ready to host SGFI Soccer championship

Port Blair, Dec 3: The Andaman and Nicobar Administration is all set to host the 53rd School Game Federation of India (SGFI) National School Football Championship for U-17 boys here from 4th to 12th this month.

Official sources today said Union Territory Chief Secretary Chhering Targay would be flag off the championship tomorrow.

About 3000 school children from the island would perform mass drills during the opening ceremony.

Sports Arts and Culture officials informed that 16 football teams from across the country would be participating in the championship.

Teams from Manipur, Tripura, Rajasthan, Pubjab, Orissa and Haryana have already arrived here, whereas the rest would arrive today evening.

The Andaman team is being coached by Surjith Ghosh and International footballer Thomas Kushboo, SAC Sources added.
