Bengaluru, August 21: Andres Iniesta has admitted he is considering his Barcelona future for the first time after admitting he is yet to sign a new deal with the club.

The Barcelona board reportedly wanted to tie him down to a contract along with their Star man Lionel Messi and their club executive Robert Fernandez also back in March suggested that both the deals will be presented this year to the star duo.

However, just weeks after Neymar's departure from the Nou Camp, the Veteran midfielder has handed a blow to the Barcelona and its fans as he is thinking about his future which might delay his decision to stay on with the Catalan giants.

The 33-year-old is out of contact at the end of this season, and in a meeting with Spanish daily paper 'El Pais', he conceded that he was thinking about his future for the first time in his life.

"Right now, I have still not signed a new contract," he said.

"This is a scenario that, probably three years ago, I could never have imagined.

"Let's say that I am considering my future when I didn't do it before."

The news will come as a tremendous blow to the Catalan side as the midfielder has been a key part of most of their recent success, with him having won eight La Liga titles and lifted the Champions League four times with Barcelona.

Iniesta also added that the current Barcelona team are now in a troublesome phase in re-establishing themselves as Spain's number one team after their substantial defeat in the Spanish Super Cup against rivals Real Madrid and losing the La Liga title last year.

"[Madrid] are a great team, with the best players in the world, but I want to say that our challenge is to find what we lost last year.

"The Supercopa was a painful defeat because it was the first title we could win but they were very effective.

"All the defeats, especially against Madrid, always raise questions, [as does] the situation that has taken place in the last few weeks."
