Borussia Dortmund manager hails Mario Gotze on competitive return

Mario Gotze had been out of football since January 29 after he was diagonised with a metabolic issue and after 6 months made his competitive return in Dortmund's 3-0 win over Wolfsburg.

Bengaluru, August 21: Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Bosz has hailed the outstanding Mario Gotze after the midfielder made his return to football on Saturday in the Bundesliga match.

The 25-year-old showed up for Dortmund in seven months in a 3-0 Bundesliga prevail upon Wolfsburg and immediately made an impressive impact in the match.

Marc Bartra, Christian Pulisic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were all on target as Dortmund kicked their season convincingly at the Volkswagen Arena.

The Germany international had been out of football since January 29 after he was diagonised with a metabolic issue. After the revelation, the Former Bayern Munich player took a hibernation from the game and made a recovery in the meantime.

While, Gotze on his return was not able to get his name on the scoresheet, he provided a beautiful ball to help Christian Pulisic score Dortmund's opener.

Dortmund coach Bosz hailed the young footballer for showing strong determination in the field following such struggle, however, admitted that he will be now more cautious in handling the player.

"It went really well. He has played really good but he is a really good player," he said. "But we have to be careful.

"That is why we substituted him after one hour. We won't take any risk and if he had to he could have gone on.

"Again, we have to be careful. He has played well and obviously he is a special player."

Gotze after the match also revealed his happiness in returning to the field and suggested he is now feeling completely okay.

He said: "I've never been out for such a long time, so it's not that easy.

"All the more fortunate I am now that it has worked. We made a great game, won 3-0 away.

"There simply remains a positive and happy feeling."
