Benteke who joined The Reds last summer from Aston Villa for a mammoth £32.5m has failed to impress in his first season. It is being speculated that Liverpool might get rid of the striker accepting such a huge offer from Palace.
The 25-year-old forward was bought by the then Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, but Benteke failed to make a mark in front of Jurgen Klopp. In 42 appearances last season, he managed to score only 10 goals which is pretty much unacceptable.
Klopp's first choice striker at Anfield is without a doubt English international Danie Sturridge. Benteke's compatriot Divock Origi comes second in his hierarchy.
Christian Benteke has only played for 10 minutes in the Euro 2016 as he did not start a single game. Belgium were knocked out of the Euro in the quarter-finals by Wales.
Crystal Palace had earlier offer Liverpool £27 m which is understood to be rejected by the Merseyside club. Manager Alan Pardew, who is desperate to refurbish his side this time is desperate to acquire the forward as a result they placed a second bid which might prove to be club record transfer.
The Eagles have already signed Andres Townsend and Steve Mandanda since the transfer window opened last week. Benteke's arrival at Selhurst Park would definitely weigh up their cause. Palace finished 15th in the league last season with 42 points.
