The Theatre of dreams has always been a tough place to visit for Spurs winning only twice since 1981 while United have emerged winners 17 times in the last 22 meetings between the two clubs.

However, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is facing injury problems especially at the back with captain Nemanja vidic, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones sidelined. However, Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans will continue to form United's defensive line.

In midfield, Ferguson may bring back Tom Cleverley along side Michael Carrick while Darren Fletcher, Paul Scohles and Anderson may sit out on the bench. With Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young injured, winger Nani may retain his place despite being hauled off at half-time against Liverpool.

Wayne Rooney, who returned to action against Newcastle in the League Cup clash following his nasty thigh injury, is likely to play as second striker behind Robin van Persie.

Villas-Boas suffers similar injury problems in defence. Centre-back Jan Vertonghen could be shifted to the left-hand side while Steven Caulker and William Gallas will be at the centre.

Jermain Defoe will lead the attack in front of attacking trio Clint Dempsey, Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale. France No. 1 goalkeeper Hugo Lloris continues to fight for his place as Spurs opt for veteran Brad Friedel.

Trivia:

*Spurs have scored more goals in the second half than any other side.

*Andre Villas-Boas previously lost 3-1 at Old Trafford as manager of Chelsea.

Probable Lineups:

Manchester United (4-2-3-1): Lindegaard-Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra-Carrick, Cleverley-Nani, Rooney, Kagawa-Van Persie.

Tottenham Hotspur (4-5-1): Friedel-Walker, Gallas, Caulker, Vertonghen-Sandro, Dembele-Lennon, Dempsey, Bale-Defoe.
