EPL 2012-13: Van Persie to make Man United debut on Monday?

Manchester, Aug 16: Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that new signing Robin van Persie will make his Manchester United debut against Everton at Goodison Park in their opening game of the new season on Monday.

The Dutch striker is due to complete his medical at Manchester after arriving from London and will soon be confirmed as United player.

United agreed terms with Premier League rivals Arsenal to sign the 29-year-old for £24 million, beating the likes of mega rich club and rivals Manchester City while Juventus have also had a lucrative offer turned down by the Gunner himself.

"He is on his way up from London for a medical. We hope that goes according to plan," DailyMail quoted Sir Alex Ferguson, as saying.

"His agent is in discussions with David Gill (chief executive) right about now. We hope all the things will be tied up, although sometimes medicals do take a bit longer. I am sure he will be available for Monday's game," Fergie added.

United are believed to have paid £15m down payment while the rest will depend on appearances. The Dutch star will sign a four-year contract worth over £200k weekly.

Last time United made a high profile signing with Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham for a record fee worth £30.75m back in 2008. However, Arsenal have lost top players in the summer transfer market before with Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona and Samir Nasri joined rivals Manchester City.
