Ferguson eyeing turning Beckham's Man U clash dreams into a nightmare

By Super Admin

London, Dec 19 (ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has indicated that he will ensure an unhappy homecoming for their former star David Beckham.

Beckham, who joins AC Milan for his second spell on loan from LA Galaxy in January, had earlier admitted that he was looking forward to a Manchester United-Milan clash in the Champions League. The dream has come true as both will fight in the Champions League knockout stage on February 16 and March 10.

Ferguson believes the hurt from United's 2-0 Champions League final defeat to Barcelona last May has made his team better equipped to wreck Beckham's return.

"We've come up against AC Milan many times in the quarter and semi-finals, so it will be a fantastic setting for two great clubs and we're very much looking forward to it. I think our experience of being in the last two finals counts. Also, what's important is that we lost the last final," The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.

"It was the first time I'd ever lost a European final. We know where we went wrong in that, it's quite simple, and I think they'll all want to get back to the final," he added.

Beckham has never played against his old club since his departure to Real Madrid in 2003 after falling out with Ferguson.

Meanwhile, former Man U striker Teddy Sheringham said he is convinced that Bekham will get a big reception from a packed Old Trafford.

"Without a doubt he was a top player, an icon. The supporters will love him coming back to say his goodbyes and see him on the pitch," Sheringham said. (ANI)
