First press conference: Jose Mourinho takes a dig at Wenger, Pep and Louis van Gaal

Here are the excerpts from his first official press conference:

On becoming the Manchester United manager for the first time he said: "I'm arriving into a club that's difficult to describe in words. It's not a dream job...it's reality, I am already here.

"It's a job that everyone wants and not many had the chance to have... and I have it.

"I know the responsibility, the legacy, the history. I know what the fans expect from me.

"It comes in the right time in my career. I'm prepared, stable and motivated"

Mourinho was asked about his goals at the club and he said that it was disappointing not to compete at the UEFA Champions League. But he hopes that it is for one season only.

"We have to make sure this club is where it has to be... which is the Champions League"

The highlighting moment of the press conference came when Jose Mourinho took a dig at his predecessor Louis van Gaal. The manager said: "I was never good at hiding behind words, behind philosophies. I never tried to be good at that."

Mourinho further added: "I prefer to be more aggressive, to say that we want to win.

"Playing well is to score more goals and concede less than your opponents...make fans proud"

On asked if he has any points to prove, Jose responded: Point to prove? "The last time I won a title was a year ago, not 10 or 15 years ago.

"I would never be able to work without success. That's not my nature.

"When you have the same menu for many years, it has to get better, not worse. To finish fourth is not the aim."

Well that was a clear dig at his old rival Arsene Wenger.

Manchester United have already signed three players in the transfer window. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Eric Bailey and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

He was asked whether some more players will join the club this season, to which he replied: OK squad? "I don't know. Third player will be ready soon. We had four priority positions,

"Until we have the fourth, we work hard. Then we all breathe and are stable. But market will be open"

Mourinho was further questioned on another one of his old rivals Pep Guardiola. He said: "I don't think he's right in this country"

Ryan Giggs most recently left the club as he did not want to continue as an assistant manager anymore. Mourinho on that said: "It's not my responsibility that Ryan is not at the club. He wanted to be manager & the club decided job was for me.
"Ryan made his decision. He could be what he wants in the club [apart from manager]

"Ryan was brave and honest. Good luck... and if one day he wants to come back, I will always say yes.
