Barcelona, Nov 24: Lionel Messi smashed yet another record in his glittering career at Barcelona in the La Liga.
The Argentine scored a hat-trick for Barcelona against Sevilla (November 22) to become the all-time highest goalscorer in Spanish league history.
"He's a unique player - there'll never be anyone like him and we're lucky to enjoy his presence here," Barcelona coach Luis Enrique said of Messi.
"I think he will leave the record unreachable for anyone else," he added.
Messi now has 253 goals from 288 games. He erased a 59-year-old record. The previous mark was held by Telmo Zarra, with 251 goals since 1955. Zarra played for Athletic Bilbao.
At the age of 13, Messi joined the Barcelona academy. He made his La Liga debut in 2004-05 season and has taken 10 seasons to break the top goalscorer record.
Messi has several records in his CV and is set to add many more considering he is still 27.
