Now India to fight Pakistan on football field

By Pti
New Delhi, July 11: The uncertainty that had loomed over the India-Pakistan football series has finally come to an with the arch-rivals all set to play a three-match series in England, starting August 25.

The tour, which has been dubbed as ''Clash of the Titans -- India-Pakistan UK tour,'' ends on September 11 with matches to be held in Manchester, Coventry and London.

The event had previously been postponed after the Indian interior ministry refused to issue the NOC for the series. The President of the All India Football Federation, Praful Patel expressed his delight at the tournament finally taking place.

"Playing Pakistan is always special. It's a positive sign that we will play a bilateral football series against Pakistan. I'm sure all sporting fans are eagerly looking forward to it," said Patel.

This is the first-time ever that India would be playing a three-match series against Pakistan in a neutral venue.

The last time the two nations were involved in a three-match series was in 2005 in Pakistan, which India won on goal-difference after the series was deadlocked 1-1.

The tour is being organised by TouchSky Sports (TSS), a FIFA and UEFA Licensed Match and Player Agency.

"It gives me immense pleasure in organising this epoch-making tour. The tour would provide the Indian and Pakistani Nationals based in England to witness their native teams in action at the ''Home of Football'', England," said Ahmer Kunwar of TSS.

The first match would be played on August 25 in Manchester, followed by the second game in Coventry on September 3 before London hosts the final match on September 9.
